Our first Beardcast went live on Jan. 25th 2016  a lot has changed since that first one. We have discovered that this blog/podcast can be used as a great tool for discipleship making. This week both Zach and I reflect on this past year.

It has been a wild ride here at BeardedTheologians the last year.  Matt and I started out on this adventure together not knowing what to expect.  What we did know is we enjoyed many of the same conversations we have had on the podcast in private, and for whatever reason, we wanted to extend the invitation to you.  Our podcast tagline is perfect, “We got this… Whatever this is…” we had no idea what “this” would turn out to be.  We never expected to grow the way this has, into multiple platforms do listen, a full blown website, a store that people (not just Matt and I) actual buy stuff at, blogs, blog contributors, guests like Mikel and Ashley (our very supportive wives), Bishop Harvey, Hannah Bonner, Geoffery Parker, Rob Rynders and trust me many many more to come!  It is all because of you, our listeners, readers, and supporters for hanging in there with us over the last year.

Personally, I have learned a lot over the last year.  Not just the fundamentals of hosting a podcast, trust me we have come a long way, but I have learned a lot about myself and ultimately about God.  We have dug into topics deep and pushed each other to open up and explore the God we serve and the world we live in, in ways I certainly didn’t expect. Through our listeners, it has affirmed that we are all in the same place, no matter where we are in the world, we are eager for a place to come and open up, be genuine, authentic, and honest with who you are and what you believe.

***Sausage Making Alert****

Each week when we sign off with you, the first thing that is always said by one of the two, or both of us is “Man, I sure did need that today.”  This podcast has been life-giving to the both of us and we cannot thank you enough for being a part of it with us.  ~Thanks, ZB

Zach said pretty much everything I was going to say. But as I look forward I would love to hear from you. What would you like for us to tackle? We are not scared. Well, I am of the Cubs repeating as World Series Champions but that is a whole different situation. We love talking with people have listened to or have read some of the blogs. I love doing the show and Blog each week is a rabbit hole of theological conversation that sometimes does not happen in the church and we are making space for that to occur.

So keep listening and commenting, help us make this a place of light in a world that is dark. Also, pick up some Bearded Theologian gear it is some great stuff to keep the conversation going. We see this website as a tool for helping make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Thanks for everything. ~MF
